Cynthia French grew up in the corporate world. Her father worked for a major oil company, so she spent her childhood moving back and forth from Oklahoma to Texas. After graduating from Oklahoma State University (where she received a Bachelor of Science degree, and was honored by serving on OSU's homecoming court, being elected to the Student Government Association, and being named as a top ten graduate in the college of Arts and Sciences), Cynthia moved to Los Angeles, CA with the intention of finishing her graduate studies in Arts Administration. She joined a small church there (which had a strong entertainment industry congregation), and started singing solos. Before long, she found herself getting hired for studio work and gigs. This opened the door to a professional career as a vocalist and musician. She toured in Europe, Australia, and the Orient during her time in Los Angeles.
While still living on the west coast, she traveled to Nashville, TN to explore the country music scene and fell into the unique opportunity to sing on the Grand Ole Opry during her first visit. This prompted her to move to Nashville to pursue an artist/songwriter career. Within a matter of months, Cynthia had secured publishing, management, and production deals. Shortly after completing her contractual writer/artist duties with these companies, she founded and independent music publishing company, which has been in operation since 1995.
Cynthia has also provided background vocals on a number of records, including Reba McIntyre's "If You See Him" album, which produced the number one song "Forever Love." She has also worked on many alternative rock and pop albums, and is in the process of recording a new CD of her own original music.
Currently dividing her time between Nashville and Los Angeles, Cynthia continues to work in the music industry. Recently, she has begun touring the country speaking publicly about her experiences with eating disorders, how she overcame them, and what led her to create this novel. |
